Clippers defeats the Spurs behind Griffin's 23

In the end, it's all about defense. DeAndre Jordan had a great defensive play in closing seconds blocking Curtis Jerrells' layup attempt that would have given the Spurs the lead, then hit two free throws with 5.1 seconds left. He had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

While Blake Griffin took care of business on the offensive end, scoring 23 points and grabbing 7 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 93-90 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Griffin scored 10 points in the first quarter and had 13 in the third. The Clippers outscored the Spurs 29-26 in the fourth quarter behind 13 points from Al Thornton.

Richard Jefferson, had his most productive game in the preseason, scoring 15 points in 16 minutes, all in the first half. Marcus Williams also had his best game so far. He finished with 11 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds.

Jefferson is getting comfortable with the system saying "I came into a situation where a lot of guys already have known the system for a long time, My job is to learn the system and figure out how it all fits for me. Once I can figure that out, I can be more aggressive. It's almost like I am a rookie again, but the more I get to play, the more aggressive I can be."

DeJuan Blair had a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards, George Hill chipped in 13, Ian Mahinmi had 7 points and 5 boards while Malik Hairston had another good all-around game for the Spurs, scoring 9 points, dishing out 5 assist with 2 steals and a rebound.

Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan and Antonio McDyess also played for the Spurs. Manu had 8 points, 3 assist and 2 rebound. Tim added 6 points, 5 boards, 2 dimes, 1 block and a steal. And Dice had 4 points, 4 boards and 3 assists. Tony Parker did not play at all for the Spurs.

Eric Gordon, Marcus Camby and Chris Kaman sat out for the Clippers.

It was a preseason game, but it was very close and competitive down the stretch. Execution, hustle and pressure comes into play. The Clippers made a great defensive stop in the end, the Spurs played well but it wasn't enough.

Overall, a great win by the Clippers and a good learning experience for the Spurs young guns...
